The Best Roofers in Dallas

Seven Dallas roofing companies ranked on credentials you can verify, because Texas does not license roofers and licensed and insured means very little here.

The Short Answer

Bert Roofing on Cayuga Drive is the first call for a Dallas home. It has worked the city since 1988, it has been BBB accredited since 1990, and it has won the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association Golden Hammer twelve times. StazOn Roofing holds the higher GAF tier and has been going since 1980. For a commercial roof, call KPost.

Bert Roofing

Cayuga Drive, east Dallas near White Rock · Free inspection, then quote based

Known for Twelve NTRCA Golden Hammer awards and the widest certification spread

Bert Roofing has the deepest outside validation of any residential roofer in Dallas, and almost none of it is self-awarded. It has won the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association Golden Hammer twelve times, which is a peer and industry jury rather than a directory badge, and it has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since 1990 with an A plus rating. The company was founded in Dallas in 1988 and says the family's roofing experience goes back to the 1960s.

It also holds the broadest certification spread here, which matters if your job is not a simple shingle swap. RCAT licensed under the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas voluntary programme, CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator, GAF Certified Contractor, Owens Corning Preferred Contractor and VELUX Certified Installer. That last one is the tell. If the roof has skylights, most roofers will reseal them and hope, and a manufacturer-certified installer is a different proposition. Services run beyond the roof to gutters, siding, attic insulation, patio covers and storm damage. One honest note on tiers. Its GAF credential is Certified rather than Master Elite, which is the level above, and two firms below hold that higher one.

Go-to order or tip: If you have skylights, say so on the first call and ask specifically about the VELUX certification. Skylight flashing is the commonest source of a leak that appears months after a new roof goes on, and it is the repair most often argued about afterwards.

StazOn Roofing

Lombardy Lane, northwest Dallas · Quote based

Known for The longest-running family roofer here, at the top GAF tier

Family owned and operated since 1980, which makes StazOn the oldest company on this page, and it holds the highest manufacturer tier available. GAF Master Elite is limited to a small share of GAF's contractor network, and StazOn carries it alongside GAF Master Commercial Roofing Contractor and GAF Certified Green Roofer, which is an unusual combination for a firm of this size. It is also a member of four trade bodies, the National Roofing Contractors Association, the North Texas association, RCAT and the Metal Roofing Alliance, and it is BBB A plus.

The range is wider than most residential roofers will take. Composition shingle, metal, tile, DECRA stone-coated steel, GAF Timberline solar shingles, architectural metal fabrication, plus multi-family and commercial work and general contracting. If your Dallas house has a tile or standing-seam metal roof, the field of firms that can actually do the job properly narrows sharply and this is on the short list. The gap in what it publishes is the founding detail. The 1980 date comes from its own about page and it names no owner or manager anywhere on the site.

Go-to order or tip: Ask which crew does metal and which does composition. A firm that genuinely runs both will answer immediately with two different lead names, and one that subcontracts the metal will take a while to get back to you.

Arrington Roofing

Obenchain Street, west Dallas near Oak Cliff · Free inspection, then quote based

Known for A showroom you can walk into, and a written ten year labour warranty

Arrington has protected North Texas roofs since 1983 under its founder and president, Chris Arrington, and it is GAF Master Elite plus a CertainTeed Master Craftsman, an NTRCA member and BBB A plus accredited. The warranty is the part worth underlining, because it is stated in writing on its own site rather than described vaguely. A manufacturer's warranty on materials plus a ten year labour warranty on the workmanship. Labour is where roof disputes actually happen, and a published ten year term is a real commitment.

It is also the only firm on this page with somewhere to visit that is worth visiting. The Obenchain Street headquarters has a showroom, a green roof you can stand on, and a studio where it records the Building Dallas Podcast. For a homeowner choosing between a shingle colour on a phone screen and the same product on an actual roof deck, that is a practical advantage. It works both residential and commercial, and it answers the phone around the clock for emergencies, which it states plainly.

Go-to order or tip: Go to the showroom and look at your shortlisted shingle outdoors in daylight rather than under showroom lights. Weathered Wood and Barkwood look almost identical on a sample board and nothing like each other on a roof.

Kidd Roofing

Story Road West, in Irving rather than Dallas proper · Quote based

Known for A 2026 GAF three-star President's Club award, the highest credential here

Start with the honest part, because the title of this article says Dallas. Kidd Roofing markets a Dallas office and the address behind it is on Story Road West in Irving, a separate city about twelve miles west of downtown. We have kept it on the list rather than cutting it, labelled accurately, because what it holds is the single strongest credential on this page. GAF Master Elite plus a 2026 Master Elite three-star President's Club award, which GAF restricts to a minority of its Master Elite contractors.

The rest of the record is substantial. Founded in 1982, BBB A plus, a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association, and certified across an unusually long list of manufacturers including Berridge, Carlisle, Centria, CertainTeed, Firestone, GAF, Garland, Johns Manville, Petersen and Tamko. It runs six offices across Texas, Colorado and Florida, so this is a regional operation rather than a neighbourhood roofer, and the company does not name any one of them as a headquarters. Decide whether that scale is what you want. On a large or unusual roof it is an advantage. On a simple reroof in Lakewood, the firms above are closer to you.

Go-to order or tip: Confirm which branch your crew and project manager come from before you sign. On a multi-office contractor, the quality you were sold is the branch's, not the brand's.

KPost Company

West Northwest Highway, northwest Dallas · Quote based, commercial scale

Known for The stadium and office tower roofs, plus residential and solar

KPost opened in Dallas in January 2004 and it is the firm on this page you call for a building rather than a house. Keith Post is founder and chief executive, Steve Little is president and Jayne Williams is chief financial officer and safety officer, and the project list is checkable because the buildings are public. The roof at Globe Life Field, which took a 2022 NRCA Gold Circle honourable mention and a 2021 TEXO Distinguished Building Award. Charles Schwab. The Statler Hotel. Verizon Hidden Ridge. Three Hickory Centre at Mercer Crossing.

Two numbers tell you more about a commercial roofer than any award. It publishes an experience modification rate of 0.57, which is a workers compensation measure where below 1.0 means a better than average safety record, and it holds a 2023 Associated Builders and Contractors Accredited Quality Control award. It also takes residential work including slate, clay and concrete tile, synthetic shingle and standing seam metal, plus solar panels and battery storage, so a large or architecturally awkward house is in scope. It does not publish certifications in the manufacturer tiers the residential firms above compete on.

Go-to order or tip: If you are a property manager, ask about the umbrella maintenance programme rather than a one-off repair quote. Planned commercial roof maintenance is almost always cheaper over five years than reacting to each leak, and few contractors will volunteer this.

Supreme Roofing

North Walton Walker Boulevard, west Dallas · Quote based, commercial only

Known for A Dallas national headquarters and an RCAT commercial licence number

Supreme has been a commercial roofing company since 1987 and its Dallas office on North Walton Walker is the national headquarters for offices in Denver, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Chicopee, Massachusetts. For building owners, property managers and facility teams it is a genuine alternative to KPost, and the credential it publishes is the specific kind we prefer. RCAT Commercial Roofing License number 02-0215, an actual number you can take to the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas rather than a logo. It also lists NTRCA Golden Hammer and Golden Circle awards and membership of the national, North Texas and Western States associations.

Three things to know before you call. It does no residential work at all, so homeowners should stop here. Its Better Business Bureau profile says it is not accredited and carries no rating because the BBB lacks sufficient information, which is the one record on this page that runs against the firm. And the phone number above is the one on its own locations page, while a separate directory listing gives a different number for the same address, so use the site's.

Go-to order or tip: Ask for the RCAT licence number in the proposal document itself rather than taking it off the website. On commercial work the proposal is the thing your insurer and your board will read later.

New View Roofing

Gaston Avenue, east Dallas near Baylor · Free inspection, then quote based

Known for A veteran-owned Dallas shop working storm and insurance claims

New View is a veteran-owned company with a real Gaston Avenue address in east Dallas and a 469 number, and it covers the full residential range plus commercial membranes, EPDM, TPO, PVC and metal, coatings, leak detection and waterproofing. It also does gutters, windows, fencing and exterior renovation, which makes it a sensible single call after a hailstorm has damaged more than the roof.

It is last here because of what it does not publish, not because of anything we found against it. There is no founding year anywhere on the site. It says its project managers are certified and links to a page explaining GAF warranty levels without stating which certification the company itself holds. Every firm above it names its credentials outright. If the insurance claim is the hard part of your job, this is a reasonable call, and if the roof is the hard part, ask for the certifications in writing before you commit.

Go-to order or tip: Never let any roofer offer to cover or absorb your insurance deductible. It is illegal in Texas, and a contractor who proposes it is telling you what their paperwork is like on everything else.

Start with the fact that reframes this entire search. Texas does not license roofing contractors. The state agency that licenses electricians, air conditioning contractors, auctioneers and water well drillers does not license the trade that will spend three days on your roof.

How did we pick these?

We threw out the word every roofer in Dallas uses and ranked on the credentials that can actually be checked.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation publishes its own list of regulated industries. It runs to more than forty occupations and roofing is not one of them. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, which runs the voluntary programme that comes closest to filling the gap, describes Texas plainly as an unregulated state when it warns homeowners about scams. So "licensed and insured" on a Dallas roofer's homepage carries almost no information, and every list that ranks on it is ranking on nothing.

What is left is checkable, and it sorts this field quickly:

  • Manufacturer certification tiers. GAF Master Elite and its three-star President's Club award, CertainTeed Master Shingle Applicator and Master Craftsman, Owens Corning Preferred. These are issued by the companies whose warranties your roof depends on.
  • The RCAT voluntary licence, and better still a licence number you can take to RCAT.
  • Industry jury awards, specifically the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association Golden Hammer, which is judged by the trade rather than bought from a directory.
  • A BBB accreditation date, which is harder to fake than a rating.
  • A street address in Dallas that is not a mailbox.

That ordering is why Bert Roofing is first. Twelve Golden Hammers and accreditation dating to 1990 is the deepest outside record here, even though StazOn and Arrington hold the higher GAF tier, which we say in both their entries.

What we cut, and why it matters more than usual in this trade. The Dallas roofing result set is full of companies that are not in Dallas and companies you cannot reach. Jamar Roofing publishes a Dallas and Fort Worth page from a corporate office in Buda, 200 miles south. Infinity Roofing's Dallas page gives a 281 Houston number and no local address. The domain whiterockroofing.com belongs to a builder in Staten Island, New York, not to the Dallas firm of that name. Wortham Brothers appears on nearly every list and its own domain is now parked for sale. Supreme Roofing, which we did keep, has a customer testimonial on its site still attributed to "John Doe, CEO."

Which Dallas roofer fits which job?

Firm Trading since Top credential Best for
Bert Roofing 1988 12 NTRCA Golden Hammers, RCAT, BBB since 1990 Houses, especially with skylights
StazOn Roofing 1980 GAF Master Elite and Master Commercial Tile, metal and solar shingle
Arrington Roofing 1983 GAF Master Elite, 10 year labour warranty Choosing materials in person
Kidd Roofing 1982 GAF 3-star President's Club, 2026 Large or unusual roofs
KPost Company 2004 ABC Accredited Quality Control, EMR 0.57 Commercial buildings, and solar
Supreme Roofing 1987 RCAT commercial licence 02-0215 Commercial only, never homes
New View Roofing Not published Verified Dallas address Storm and insurance claim work

Two of these seven do no residential work. Read that column before you call anybody.

What should you know before you sign?

Get the warranty split in writing, because there are two and they are not the same. The manufacturer covers the materials and the contractor covers the labour, and labour is where every dispute actually happens. Arrington publishes a ten year labour term, which gives you a number to hold the others against. Ask what warranty tier your quote qualifies for, since the strongest manufacturer warranties can only be issued by contractors at the higher certification levels.

Then get the permit question settled. Dallas requires a building permit for roofing work. Ask who pulls it and confirm it is the contractor, in writing.

And refuse, without exception, any offer to waive, absorb or rebate your insurance deductible. It is illegal in Texas. A contractor who suggests it is telling you exactly what their paperwork looks like on everything else.

What should you do next?

Get three written quotes, insist each one names its certification tier and its labour warranty term, and visit Arrington's showroom to see your shortlisted shingle on a real roof deck in daylight. If a company knocked on your door after a storm, it is not on this page, and that is not a coincidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Almost certainly not, because Texas does not license roofing contractors at all. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation regulates more than forty occupations, from electricians and air conditioning contractors to auctioneers and water well drillers, and roofing is not among them. So when a roofing company advertises itself as fully licensed in Texas, that phrase is either referring to a city registration, a voluntary trade credential, or nothing. Ask which one they mean. The answer is informative either way.

The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas runs a voluntary Licensed Roofing Contractor programme for firms that meet its requirements and pass industry examinations. It carries real weight precisely because nobody is forced into it, and it is the closest thing Texas has to a roofing licence. Two firms here publish it, Bert Roofing and StazOn, and Supreme publishes a specific commercial licence number. RCAT itself describes Texas as an unregulated state when it warns the public about storm-chasing scams.

GAF runs the clearest tiers, and the names are confusingly similar. Master Elite sits above Certified, and the three-star President's Club award sits above Master Elite again. On this page Kidd holds the President's Club award, StazOn and Arrington hold Master Elite, and Bert holds Certified while carrying more non-GAF certifications than anybody else. Certification matters mainly because the strongest manufacturer warranties can only be issued by contractors at the higher tiers, so ask which warranty your quote qualifies for.

Because the others count companies that are somewhere else. Jamar Roofing runs a Dallas and Fort Worth page and its corporate office is at 16712 South IH 35 in Buda, south of Austin, where it describes itself as the original Austin roofers. Infinity Roofing publishes a Dallas page whose only phone number is a 281 Houston area code and no Dallas street address. The domain whiterockroofing.com, which looks like the Dallas firm of that name, belongs to a construction company on Willow Avenue in Staten Island, New York.

We could not reach it. Wortham Brothers Roofing is named on nearly every Dallas roundup, with a 1986 founding by David and Steve Wortham and a claim of more than 75,000 roofs. The domain worthambrothers.com now redirects to a GoDaddy page offering it for sale, and the wbroofing.com address that directories give for it returned no content for us across the run. Directory listings put a Dallas office at 325 North St Paul Street and a number of (214) 971-8838. We do not rank a company whose website we cannot read, so it is left off rather than included on directory data.

Three rules. Do not sign anything with a company that knocked on your door within a week of the storm, because the firms on this page are already booked and are not canvassing. Check for an address you can drive to, in Dallas, that is not a mailbox. And refuse any offer to waive, absorb or rebate your insurance deductible, which is illegal in Texas. North Texas sits in one of the most hail-exposed corridors in the country, which is exactly why the out-of-state crews arrive within hours.
