The Short Answer

Roofing and Siding Smiths on Stonewall Street is the strongest all-round roofer in Greenville, trading here since 2006 and doing roof, siding, gutters, and windows with one crew. Sickels Roofing is the best BBB accredited alternative, and ABC Roofing Sheet Metal is the shop to call for a metal roof.

Roofing & Siding Smiths

Stonewall Street, west side · Quote based

Known for Roof, siding, gutters, and windows handled by one crew instead of three subcontractors

This is the longest continuously trading roofer we could verify with a street address inside Greenville. The BBB file gives a business start date of 1 January 2006 and an LLC registration on 30 August 2016, names Zach Potts as owner, and carries an A plus rating, though the company is not BBB accredited. It also trades as Blackland Seamless Gutters, which is where the gutter side of the business comes from.

The reason to call here first is scope. Hail almost never damages only the roof, and this is the shop set up to replace the shingles, the siding, the seamless gutters, and the windows as one job on one schedule. It appears in the Texas Association of Builders associate directory and the Dallas Builders Association roofing listing, which are memberships you can check rather than badges on a website.

Go-to order or tip: Get the roof and the gutters quoted together. Detaching and resetting gutters for a shingle tear-off costs money either way, so folding a replacement into the same job is usually the cheaper path.

Sickels Roofing and Construction, LLC

Highway 34 South · Quote based

Known for BBB accreditation, Greenville Chamber membership, and Saturday as a normal working day

Sickels is one of only two roofers we could confirm as BBB accredited with a Greenville address, accredited since 17 May 2021. It was founded in 2020 by Shane M. Sickels, it is a Greenville Chamber of Commerce member, and it covers residential and commercial work, emergency repair, inspections, re-roofing, gutters, and siding from the Highway 34 shop.

The Saturday hours matter more than they sound in a town this size. Most of the trade here works Monday to Friday, so a Friday afternoon leak usually means waiting until Monday unless you want to pay an after-hours rate. Two phone numbers circulate for this business, the one listed above and (903) 408-9635. Both trace back to the same Highway 34 address.

Go-to order or tip: Book the free inspection before you file anything with your insurer. A written scope from a roofer gives the adjuster something concrete to argue against.

Shane Stovall Roofing, LLC

FM 1570 North, northeast of town · Quote based

Known for Commercial roofing, waterproofing, and scheduled maintenance programs

Shane Stovall Roofing is the clearest commercial pick in Greenville. The BBB file dates the business to 19 July 2017, names Shane Stovall as owner and manager, and carries an A plus rating without accreditation. The company covers both house work and commercial buildings, and it is the only roofer here that lists waterproofing as its own service line rather than a line item inside a re-roof.

The maintenance programs are the real differentiator. Almost nobody in a market this size sells scheduled roof maintenance, because it is unglamorous work that pays less than replacement. If you own a shop on Wesley Street or a metal building out on the loop, a contract that puts somebody on the roof twice a year is cheaper than the first flat roof failure.

Go-to order or tip: If you manage a commercial building, ask about the maintenance program before anything leaks. Retrofitting a maintenance schedule after a failure means paying for the failure first.

ABC Roofing Sheet Metal & Construction

Highway 34 South, south of the interstate · Quote based

Known for Metal roofs and sheet metal fabrication rather than shingles

Every other roofer in Greenville treats metal as an option. This is the only one in town that leads with sheet metal, and the name says so. It holds a BBB profile at the Highway 34 South address and describes itself as more than thirty years in the trade across three generations of installers, a claim we could not verify independently and are attributing rather than asserting.

The public record is thinner than the others on this list. There is a BBB file, a Yelp listing, and an active Facebook page, but no company website we could find, so treat the shop as a phone-and-visit proposition. For a standing seam or R panel roof on a barn, a shop, or a house out toward Lone Oak, it is still the most specialised option in Hunt County.

Go-to order or tip: Ask which panel profile they are quoting. R panel and standing seam are different products at different prices, and a quote that just says metal is not a quote.

Pro Roofing and Construction, LLC

Highway 69 South · Quote based

Known for The newest accredited shop in town, and roofing plus general construction on one contract

Pro Roofing and Construction is the second BBB accredited roofer with a Greenville address, accredited on 12 February 2024, incorporated on 18 July 2023. It is a Greenville Chamber of Commerce member and it holds a 5.0 overall rating on Angi. It is the youngest company on this list by some margin, which is the honest caveat to weigh against the credentials.

What it does that the specialists do not is build. The company describes itself as handling construction work well beyond roofs, so if the storm took the roof and also took out a porch, a fence, or a section of framing, this is the shortest route to one contractor and one schedule rather than three trades to coordinate yourself.

Go-to order or tip: Useful when the job is a roof plus carpentry. For a straight tear-off and re-shingle, the older shops above have longer track records to check.

Roof Pro's of Texas

Mitchell Street · Quote based

Known for Insurance claim work across residential, commercial, and flat roofs

Roof Pro's of Texas holds a Greenville BBB profile at the Mitchell Street address with an A plus rating, though it is not accredited. The listing names Jordan May as owner and describes the business as insured and bonded. The advertised range is wide for a small shop, covering shingle, metal, tile, and flat commercial roofing, plus siding, gutters, skylights, and ventilation.

The recurring theme in its own listings is insurance claim processing, which is the thing most Hunt County homeowners actually need help with after a hail event. There is no company website we could find, so the BBB file and the Facebook page are the record. Rank it below the four above on depth of public history, not on capability.

Go-to order or tip: Ask for the claim scope in writing before you sign anything that assigns your insurance benefits. Never sign an assignment of benefits you have not read line by line.

Hammerhead Roofing and Construction LLC

Wesley Street · Quote based

Known for Somebody picking up the phone at three in the morning

Hammerhead is a Hunt County company with a split public record, which is worth stating plainly. Its BBB file is registered in Quinlan, about fifteen minutes south, while its Yelp listing gives the Wesley Street address in Greenville. Both are Hunt County, and we could not resolve which one is the working shop, so we have published both facts rather than picking one.

What earns it the place is availability. It is the only roofer here listing round the clock hours, and after a night storm the difference between a tarp at four in the morning and a tarp at nine is measured in drywall. Do not confuse it with the several unrelated Hammerhead roofing companies in San Antonio, Houston, and Fort Worth.

Go-to order or tip: Use it for the emergency tarp and the first inspection. Nothing stops you getting the permanent replacement quoted by two other shops on this list.

DJJ Roofing LLC

Based in Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, serving Hunt County · Quote based

Known for Manufacturer backed warranty coverage from an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor

DJJ is not a Greenville company and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is based in Sulphur Springs, about thirty miles east, and it is on this list for one credential nobody in Greenville could match. It is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor, which is a status the manufacturer grants and you can verify on the Owens Corning contractor directory, and it is what makes factory backed warranty coverage available on qualifying installations.

The company is family owned and has traded since 2015, is BBB accredited, and is Google Guaranteed. Hunt County is named in its published service area alongside Hopkins, Franklin, Delta, and Wood. If a long manufacturer warranty is the thing you care most about, it is worth the extra half hour of drive time on the crew's side.

Go-to order or tip: Ask exactly which Owens Corning warranty tier the quote qualifies for, and get the tier written on the contract. The certification only matters if the paperwork follows it.

How did we pick these?

We started with everything a Greenville homeowner would actually see, which is a mess. Search "roofers near me" here and the first page is mostly companies in Plano, Wylie, Sherman, and Gilmer running a Greenville landing page. So the first filter was a street address in Hunt County that more than one source agrees on.

That left about a dozen. From there we checked each one against the Better Business Bureau file, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce directory, state entity records, manufacturer certification directories, and public review platforms. Anything we could not confirm from at least two independent sources came off.

There are no partners, sponsors or paid placements on this list. No business in our client file works in the roofing trade anywhere in Hunt County, so nothing was pre-filled into this article and nothing was cut for a relationship. Everything below is here on the merits.

Cut for being based elsewhere: Ripcord Roofing (Wylie), Dynamic Roofing (Plano), Lankford Roofing (Sherman), Gordy Roofing (Gilmer and Big Sandy), and Kingdom Roofing and Remodeling, whose BBB file sits in Wylie despite the Greenville chamber listing. Cut for an unresolvable record: Advanced Roofing Systems, whose Greenville suite address conflicts with a Fate address and two different phone numbers; Cuellar Roofing and Solar, which publishes no street address; Avenger Roofing, real but with no confirmable business phone; and Carroll Roofing, which appears only in directory aggregators with no site, no BBB file, and no chamber listing. All Pro Roofing has a Greenville BBB profile but lists two different Greenville addresses and a Plano one, so we left it off rather than publish an address we could not settle.

We also published no star averages or review counts anywhere, because the aggregators disagree with each other badly enough that quoting any single number would be misleading.

What should you know before you sign?

Texas does not license roofers. That single fact explains most of what goes wrong here. Anybody can print a magnet, put it on a truck, and knock doors the week after a hail event, and a fair number do. Since the state gives you no licence to check, check the things that are hard to fake instead: a physical address you can drive to, a certificate of insurance issued directly to you by the insurer rather than forwarded by the contractor, a chamber or BBB file with a start date on it, and manufacturer certification you can verify on the manufacturer's own directory rather than a logo on a website.

Be careful with assignment of benefits paperwork. After a storm, some contractors will ask you to sign a document handing them the right to negotiate directly with your insurer. That is legal and occasionally useful, but it is also how homeowners end up locked into a contractor they have not compared to anybody. Read it, and if you are not sure, do not sign it on the doorstep.

Timing matters too. Hunt County sits on the eastern edge of hail alley, and every roofer in this article gets buried in the weeks after a serious storm. If your roof is aging rather than damaged, booking the work in a quiet stretch gets you better crews and more attention than joining the queue behind two hundred claims.

What should you do next?

Get three written quotes on the same scope of work, and insist that each one specifies the shingle or panel product by name, the underlayment, the ventilation plan, and what happens if the decking turns out to be rotten once the old roof is off. That last line is where surprise costs live.

Start with Roofing & Siding Smiths if the job is a whole exterior, and Sickels Roofing if you want the shortest checkable credential trail. Frequently Asked Questions

No. Texas does not license roofing contractors, and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation does not administer roofing licensure. The nearest thing is the voluntary licence run by the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, which maintains a searchable directory of the contractors who hold it. That means insurance certificates, BBB files, chamber membership, and manufacturer certifications carry more weight here than in states that license the trade.

Two, as of our research. Sickels Roofing and Construction has been accredited since May 2021 and Pro Roofing and Construction since February 2024. Several others hold A plus ratings without being accredited, including Roofing and Siding Smiths, Shane Stovall Roofing, and Roof Pro's of Texas. An A plus rating and accreditation are different things, and companies sometimes advertise the first as though it were the second.

We do not publish a figure, because there is no verifiable local source for one. Roofing prices here depend on square footage, pitch, material, decking condition, and whether an insurance claim is paying. Every Greenville company on this list quotes on inspection and most offer that inspection free. Get three written quotes on the same scope of work and compare line by line rather than on the bottom number.

Sometimes, and we have included one on purpose. DJJ Roofing works out of Sulphur Springs and earns its place on a manufacturer certification no local shop matched. The ones to be careful with are the companies with no Hunt County presence at all that run auto generated Greenville landing pages. Ripcord Roofing is in Wylie, Dynamic Roofing is in Plano, Gordy Roofing is out of Gilmer and Big Sandy, and Lankford Roofing is in Sherman.

Shane Stovall Roofing is the most direct answer, covering commercial roofing, waterproofing, and scheduled maintenance programs. Sickels Roofing and Roof Pro's of Texas both list commercial and flat roofing among their services as well. For a metal building, ABC Roofing Sheet Metal is the shop that fabricates the panels rather than subcontracting them.
