How did we pick these?
We started with every restaurant carrying a Sherman street address that shows up across Tripadvisor's ninety-seven-restaurant ranking, Yelp's Sherman listings and the city's own downtown business pages, then threw out anything we could not check against a source outside the aggregators. KXII, the Sherman and Ada television station, does more real reporting on this town's restaurants than anyone, and five of its stories carried most of the weight here.
Nothing on this list is a partner, a client or a paid placement. Our scaffolding tool matched no Hello Web Designs client to Sherman restaurants, so this is a pure editorial list with nothing to disclose.
Plenty got cut. Fulbelli's, which anchored the square for years, is now listed as closed. 34 Chophouse and Stafford House Provisions both rank in Sherman searches and are both actually in Denison, so they are being saved for a Denison guide rather than borrowed for this one. The national chains along Texoma Parkway are excluded on principle. We also held back specifics where sources disagreed. La Piazza's street number is published as both 122 and 124 S Crockett, so we describe the corner instead, and City Limits shows conflicting Sunday hours, so we say so on the card rather than guess.
One geographic note we would rather state than bury. The Library Grill's building sits in Knollwood, a small incorporated town wrapped entirely by Sherman, on a Sherman mailing address. It is five minutes from the square and every local calls it a Sherman restaurant, but it is not technically inside the city limits.
What should you know before you go?
Sherman's food splits cleanly in two. Downtown around the Grayson County Courthouse is where the newer, more interesting kitchens are, with free on-street parking and everything walkable. Texoma Parkway, the old US 75 business route, is where the long-running family places sit, and you will need to drive between them.
The bigger trap is the calendar. This is a town with a lot of short weeks.
| Restaurant | Where | Best for | Closed |
| The Post | Courthouse square | A group, any night | Open daily |
| Cackle & Oink BBQ | Texoma Pkwy | Brisket and ribs | Short days Sun and Mon |
| La Piazza | Courthouse square | Scratch pasta | Monday |
| MG's | N Woods St | Burgers on house buns | Sunday |
| City Limits | Texoma Pkwy | Chicken fried steak | Sunday hours vary |
| Camino Viejo | Downtown | All-day breakfast | Weekends vary |
| The Library Grill | Knollwood | A steak dinner out | Sunday and Monday |
| La Placita | W Houston St | Pupusas | Check ahead |
| Cellarman's | Texoma Pkwy | Late beer and pizza | Open daily |
| Danni's | W Houston St | Gumbo and po'boys | Sun through Wed |
If you get exactly one meal in Sherman and it falls on a Sunday or a Monday, The Post and Cellarman's are the two places that will reliably be open and serving.
What else should you know about eating in Sherman right now?
The dining scene here is changing faster than in any comparable North Texas town, and it is not an accident. Texas Instruments began production at its Sherman semiconductor plant at the end of 2025, a roughly forty billion dollar investment expected to bring around three thousand jobs. At the same time the city has been funding downtown building improvement grants to get its century-old storefronts occupied, work KXII covered in January 2025. La Piazza opened directly out of that push, and The Post's owners bought their 1874 building the year before.
A few worth knowing that did not make the ten. Lupe's Tamales on East Wall Street has been selling handmade tamales downtown for more than twenty years. Sage Cafe on West Houston is chef-owned and does a scratch lunch on weekdays only. Mt. Everest Grill and Bar on Texoma Parkway is the town's Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan kitchen and runs a daily lunch buffet.
What should you do next?
Book a weekday dinner at The Post and walk the square afterward, because seeing the restored buildings is half of what makes downtown Sherman worth the trip now. If you are coming specifically to eat, come on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, which is the only window when every kitchen on this list is open at once.
