Austin Chronicle readers voted The Purple Fig best cleaning service in 2022, when the finalists were Eco-Mama, MoreHands, Texas Green Clean and Trustworthy Cleaning Service, and voted it best again in the 2026 poll, this time over The Cleaning Authority of Austin, Maid Mama's, MoreHands and Texas Green Clean. Winning a citywide readers poll once is luck. Winning it twice across four years, against a different field each time, is a pattern.

By the company's own account it was started in 2007 by Amanda May, a native Austinite, and it is woman owned and run by parents of young children, which is roughly the profile of the customer it sells to. The work is non toxic by design, with cleaning solutions mixed in house rather than bought off a janitorial pallet, and the service is sold in tiers rather than by the hour. MoreHands has been winning this town's readers poll on and off for the better part of a decade.
