The Best Restaurants in Lufkin, Texas

This is the dining room in the historic Hotel Angelina building on First Street, and it is where Lufkin sends people it wants to impress. Blake and Erin Cuccio and Heather Ramsey took the space over in 2025 after Restoration Bistro closed on July 31, kept the building's vintage bones and rebuilt the menu around a proper bar program.

The pitch is elevated food without a dress code, which in practice means you can book it for an anniversary or walk in from a downtown afternoon in what you have on. It is a chamber member and takes reservations through Tock, which almost nothing else in Angelina County does.

Blake Cuccio is a South Louisiana native and built this one from the ground up on the Loop to cook the food he grew up on. KLTV covered the construction in October 2020, when the plan was a January opening, a full bar, a smaller outdoor bar, live music and a patio for 60 to 80 people.

The detail that tells you they meant it is the window onto the boiler room, where you can watch crawfish being cleaned and boiled. The kitchen also runs specialty pizzas with etouffee, shrimp and boudin, and a seafood lasagne, which is the Italian half of the description doing real work rather than sounding good on a sign.

Established in 2020, Rusty Axe is Lufkin's only brewery, and it is a brewpub rather than a taproom with a food truck parked outside. The kitchen runs wood-fired pizza, sandwiches, salads and entrees, and the brewery turns out a rotating list rather than four year-round beers.

A family-run counter serving food that has no business being this good in a strip on Timberland. The menu moves between Mediterranean chicken shawarma, yellow chicken curry and brisket and chicken street tacos with a red fajita seasoning, and it changes with weekly specials.

The Lufkin Daily News reviewed it as a fast-casual concept bringing an eclectic menu to town and noted how little it charges for it. There is a drive-through and a take-and-bake option, and they cater.

The teppanyaki room is what most of Lufkin comes for, and it does the job it is supposed to do for birthdays and groups who want dinner and a show. The sushi bar runs a separate menu and is the better order if you are eating alone.

It keeps the longest week of anything on this list, open seven days, which matters in a town where the good kitchens close Sunday and Monday.

An owner-operated Italian kitchen in the space that used to be Manhattan Fine Dining, doing pasta, pizza and the classics without pretending to be anything else. Diners consistently mention the owner coming out to the table.

It is closed Mondays, which combined with Rusty Axe and Rustica's being shut leaves Lufkin thin at the start of the week. Worth knowing if Monday is your night out.

Standpipe opened in 2011 as part of a deliberate push to bring people back to downtown Lufkin, and it is named after the 1891 water tank that stood in Cotton Square. It is a full breakfast and lunch kitchen as much as a coffee bar, with scones, croissant sandwiches and pastries alongside the espresso.
