The Best Restaurants in Bonham, Texas

Kyle Sanderson and Jarrett Munger built this into the one Bonham restaurant with a record outside Fannin County. The Texas Bucket List filmed here in April 2018 and made the Smoky Deluxe its burger of the week, which is the kind of credential nobody in a town of 10,000 gets by accident.

Locally, the record is longer. Muddbones took first place for Best Locally Owned Business in Fannin County in the Best of Texoma awards five years running, 2020 through 2024, and finished a top three finalist in the comfort food category from 2021 through 2024. It is a burger and comfort food kitchen, not a fine dining room, and it does not pretend otherwise.

Stacy Hilliard had the wholesale side of Bonham food covered for years as owner of Juniper Cake Company, then opened a full restaurant in 2025. North Texas e-News covered the opening in its Bites column in May 2025 and described the operation as wholly owned and run by her, which matters in a market where several of the newer signs are branch locations of somebody else's company.

The kitchen works classic comfort food rather than anything experimental, and the bakery and catering arms run out of the same building.

Brothers Berat and Tony Shabanaj opened Roma in 2010 and have run it since, which makes it the longest continuously operated independent sit-down restaurant on this list. North Texas e-News reviewed it in the same Bites column that covers the rest of the county.

The menu is wider than the pizza sign suggests: pasta plates, salads, sandwiches and calzones, seafood, and a wine list. The house rolls are what regulars talk about first.

The owners were already running a heavy catering business in the county before they opened the cafe here in 2024. North Texas e-News gave it the most direct write-up any Bonham restaurant has had recently, under the headline "Bonham, You Have a Real Chef and You Probably Don't Even Know It."

The menu leans Southern with a Louisiana accent, which is a different lane from every other kitchen in town. The building is the old Breakfast Stop space, so an out-of-date map result may still send you to the wrong name.

Family owned and operated, on the main downtown block. The kitchen splits between wok cooking, Vietnamese plates including pho, and a sushi bar that rolls per order rather than working from a case.

That combination is the reason it is on this list. If you want raw fish inside Fannin County, the options are close to this and nothing else.

An old-school roadhouse with high-backed wooden booths and a pressed tin ceiling, listed in the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce food and dining directory. The menu runs sirloins, chicken fried steak, half-pound burgers, tenders, ribs and fried catfish.

Diners split on consistency more than they do at the places above it, which is why it sits here rather than higher. When the chicken fried steak lands right, it is the biggest one in town.

Run by Alli and Mychael, and listed with the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce. It is the square's daytime kitchen: eggs and pancakes early, then a specials board that runs to chicken fried pork chops and meatloaf.

Its published hours are the least reliable of anything on this list, which is the one real caveat. The food is not the problem.

A Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce member and the most reliable full-service Tex-Mex dining room downtown, open every day of the week. The kitchen covers fajitas, quesadillas and the broader Latin side of the menu rather than Tex-Mex alone.

Worth saying plainly: this is one of three restaurants under the same ownership, with the others in Greenville and in Commerce, where it trades as Dos Laredos. It is a small local group, not a chain, but it is not Bonham-only either.

The 6 a.m. open every single day is the distinction here, and in a town where most kitchens take at least one day off, that is worth something. Breakfast plates early, then diner lunches.

It sits on the Highway 82 corridor rather than downtown, so it is the easy stop if you are passing through Bonham rather than staying in it.

A family-run Tex-Mex room north of the square, and the cheapest sit-down meal on this list. The draw is the weekday lunch special and fast carry-out rather than the dining room.

Reviews are more mixed than anything above it, and the published hours are the least consistent across sources, both of which put it last. It has been operating here for years, which counts for more than a directory score.
